In 2009, we set off from the our home in London, UK in an old Land Rover Defender — Monty — to drive south through Africa. Seventeen countries and 19,005 miles later, we arrived in Cape Town, South Africa.

Along the way we crossed the Sahara, navigated the “quite spicy” Horn of Africa, got attacked my chimpanzees, trecked with gorrillas, explored the Great Rift Valley, got engaged and fell in love with a continent.

Along the way, as a method of keeping our friends and family up to date and to provide useful information to other overlanders we documented our travels via a blog. This is a revised, static version of that blog.

“If you want to see Africa, take a Land Cruiser, if you want to meet the people, take a Land Rover.” Overland Proverb.
