Git and I had a leisurely morning sunbathing whilst the boys played another nine holes - finishing around 100 over par I believe! Upon their return we packed up camp and decided that we had pretty much seen all Lilongwe had to offer! We planned to visit the tobacco market but apparently auction season has already been and gone and they shut up early on the weekend, so we decided to head on to the border instead.
We reached the Zambian border around lunchtime and seemed to have an unusually high number of money-chargers hasseling us. I hate them with a passion. At every border they are crooks. One particularly nasty chap at this border even tried to steel 20,000 quecha from us by being extremely quick at putting it in his pocket. Luckily we noticed and demanded it back straight away. He played dumb and said 'oh is this yours?'. Yes it is you thieving b@*tard, you belong in jail'! We got it back.
After much stress from the money crooks we finally got through the border and drove away as fast as we could. We didn't drive on much further as we had heard about a nice campsite in Chipata called Mama Rula's. We arrived and after a couple of beers Ric and I began to calm down about the whole incident. We went to bed that night in an enormous thunderstorm with full bellies of pizza and beer. Luckily the roof tent held out well and we were dry and toosty inside. Tomorrow we will leave Mitch here and the four of us will travel up to South Luangwa National Park.
